School Visit: The Orchard School

On May 26th, I visited The Orchard School in South Burlington, VT. It was a fantastic visit, thanks to the excellent librarians, Donna MacDonald and Louise Larocque (who happens to be my neighbor), great teachers and of course the fabulous students. School Visit: Barnet and Peacham Schools

Last Thursday I had two school visits in one day. In the morning I visited the Peacham Elementary School, and in the afternoon I visited Barnet Elementary School. Both schools were excitedly celebrating the Red Clover books and I was happy to be able to talk with them about Redwoods. It was a great day, thanks to the librarians, teachers and of course the students at each school.

School Visit: Porters Point Elementary

Last week I had the pleasure of visiting the Porters Point Elementary School in Colchester, VT. The students and faculty were great, and I had a wonderful time. They were celebrating all of the Red Clover Award books last week and put up a slideshow of their activities. Click on the picture below to see the slideshow (Redwoods is in first two frames).

School Visit: Calais Elementary

Calais Elementary School

This past Monday I had the pleasure of visiting Calais elementary school. The visit began with an all-school presentation in the auditorium and then I visited with four classrooms. All of the students were working on writing and illustrating their own stories, and I talked to them about how I illustrated Redwoods. We also did a live video Q&A with two other elementary schools in the district. I had a great time thanks to the great teachers and students at Calais!

Jason Chin at the Ottauquechee School

On February 23rd, I had the pleasure of visiting the Ottauquechee Elementary School in Quechee, VT. I read Redwoods to the full school, then I visited with several student groups in the library. I showed slides of my trip to Redwood National Park and we did some fun drawing projects. The visit was especially great, because the school’s principle was my 7th grade teacher. Reading and Presentation at the New York Transit Museum

I am excited to announce that this Saturday (Jan. 23) I will be presenting Redwoods to parents and children of all ages at the NY Transit Museum. The presentation will begin with a reading in one of the museum’s historic subway cars, followed by a presentation of the art of Redwoods, and conclude with a group art project. It is a public event and all are welcome–I hope to see you there!
